Colour Weil by Linda Weil

Features

ARTIST NOTES: The inspiration for this work started with the small drawing 'Colour Weil - Red'. The idea of creating a colour wheel of Primary and Secondary colours is fully expanded here into a work 40 x 40cm. The name of a the work is a pun on my own surname - most people tend to mispronounce my name as 'wheel' - so I have used this in the title as a tongue-in-cheek reponse to this mispronunciation. Lightly washed Aqurelle colour pencil with dry color pencil and graphite pencil was worked over the top to define and enhance the image.

Artist Statement: ‘Drawing, for me, is a constant joy and passion – I love to draw. A simple line can express so much. When I draw, I get engrossed in detail and subject matter. I love allowing a drawing to break out of its’ boundaries and create drawings within drawings – big concepts within small areas – encouraging the viewer see past the obvious and notice the hidden thought.
